I bought this product because the suction mount always falls off when I am driving, as a lot of TomTom owners also encounter. This product is well designed & sturdy. The friction pad is heavy enough that it can sit on my dash board w/o the safety hook. It provides enough friction. The pad wont slide even when I make a quick turn. The mount stays on the pad very well. I have used it a few times and it doesnt seem like it comes off easily.
But I think there are a few places they can improve the mount. First, the mount lets u to pan up & down, left & right but u cant tilt it. This is a big inconvinence when u drive under the sun, and the sun glares on the GPS. its very hard to see it sometimes. The only solution is to pan down the arm but then the GPS will literally sitting on the dash. I have a 920T n it comes w/ a traffic antenna. so its hard to let the GPS sit this low.
Also, the suction lock is on the front which means everytime when u take the mount out u will need to loose the arm, move it upward and then unlock the suction. Its very inconvinence. I had a Mio before and it came w/ a mount similar to this but it lock from the back. The advantage is u dont have to adjust angle every time u use the mount. It provides u a quick hook up. Also. my car has limited space between the dash board n the windshield. every time when I tay to loose the arm adn move it up, it will hit the windshield. I hope they will improve their next design. Or come out a groose neck mount for 920.
